PRESS.

I love comics, books, and zines, collaborating on art and writing projects. What follows below shows some of my projects currently in print. Some will be available for purchase, digitally and/or in print, and some will even have buttons with them. Anyone interested in doing some work together can join Creative Flapjackery on Facebook. Things will be slow there for a bit.

ONE PUNCH

David Rodriguez was an ordinary guy working in Information Technology before his internal moral confidence and (un)lucky circumstances led to him stopping a crime... by decking a supervillain with a single lucky punch. Now, he's a lightning rod for the wrong types of attention as he finds himself surrounded by the entire super-community on all sides. His job won't take him back because he's an insurance risk, and his lack of powers makes him unsuited to step up and become a full-time hero. What's a guy to do?

Previously released as three digest-sized, eight-page installments in black and white, the series artist, Marco Evans, is working on a full-color compilation of the three books at full-size, to be re-titled as "ONE SHOT" to help distance the series from the anime "One Punch Man." If the result gets a good reception, Mister Unlikely's second installment will be following soon thereafter.

The Shoe Congregation

The Shoe Congregation is an exploration into a variety of surrealist games, including "Instructions for Use," Automatic Writing, and Scholarly Notation, among others. The second book expands this with adventures in procedural generation, combining these with a variety of puzzles, riddles, and codes, inviting the reader to see what they can solve to win prizes, including ones of both significant and dubious value. A limited number of print copies are still for sale; there are plans to release a digital compilation of the first three books as a digital compendium after the third issue comes out. THE UNFORGOTTEN

This anthology comic about homelessness was put together as a benefit book for a homeless comic book artist named William Messner-Loebs., who has reached out to new creators in ways that are truly inspiring. Click the link, read the article about how much he's contributed to Comic Book History. Being an independent comic, we did what we could and raised a few thousand dollars to help. As of 2022, thanks to the Hero Initiative, he and his wife, Nadine, are now in assisted living.

I got this done before "Unlikely Labs" was really a thing, so I couldn't do this at all without the help of my friends in Detroit Tradecraft.
